![]() A finite element model is developed in this paper to simulate the perforation of aluminium foam sandwich panels subjected to high velocity impact using the commercial finite element analysis software LS-DYNA. studied the low-velocity transverse impact behavior of square aluminum alloy tubes filled with aluminum foam. composite face sheet/ALPORAS aluminum-foam core sandwich beams were capable of absorbing large amounts of energy through crushing of the core material and permanent fracture of the top skin. The gas released by the blowing agent formed hydrogen bubbles in the melt. The precursor and skins, coupled together, were then heated up to the melting point of the Al alloy. The precursor of the core foam was made with the powder compacted method. ![]() ![]() Aluminum foam sandwiches (AFS) with AlSi10 foam cores and AISI 316L steel skins are manufactured by an in-situ bonding process.
